Laguna Woods Village (formerly called Leisure World), is the nations leading planned senior community. It was conceived by Ross W. Cortese, after completion of his senior development, Leisure World in Seal Beach, Ca. Rossmoor Leisure World, in then Laguna Hills, was started in 1963 and completed in 1980. It has a population of 18,000 residents in over 12,700 dwelling units, called manors, on 2,095 total acres. There are 7 club houses, 5 swimming pools, 10 tennis courts, 2 fitness centers, 10 craft shops, 2 golf courses, a riding stable, RV storage and 2 garden plots.
