Before there was a city, there was a Laguna Hills. In 1874, Lewis Moulton purchased Rancho Niguel and with his partner Jean Piedra Daguerre set about raising sheep and cattle. In the early 1960's the ranch was subdivided and part became recognized as Laguna Hills. The city was incorporated in December 1991. Referred to as an upscale bedroom community in design, the city offers a mixture of housing, medical, parks, small shopping or strip centers and a Regional Shopping Mall, housing Macy's, Sears and J.C. Penney's department stores. Residential communities consist of a mixture of single family detached, attached family dwellings, apartments complexes and several mobile home parks. |
