Lake Forest California

Lake Forest for many years was referred to as El Toro, a name associated with the bulls that roamed the Don Serranos Ranch established in 1846. In the early 1900s Dwight Whiting planted over 400 acres of eucalyptus trees in the then growing agricultural community. In the 1960s Occidental Petroleum entered the scene and created a planned community around the trees and several man made lakes. Thus the name for the city was adopted-Lake Forest. With the advent of World War II and its close proximity to the US Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, the area grew rapidly. Following the war the need for real estate in Lake Forest and support services increased and the air station grew. Lake Forest has remained a charming small community in the beautiful Saddleback Valley. It is the place to live a good life, raise and support a family and enjoy life.
