Leisure World Laguna Woods was founded and developed by Ross W. Cortese over 40 years ago. Leisure World Laguna Woods recently changed their name to Laguna Woods Village.
The first home (or manor as they were called) was occupied in 1964. Leisure World, as it was formerly referred to, consists of: 3.27 square miles (or 2,095 acres), 12,736 manors, 1,225 carport structures, a library, computer room, 5 heated swimming pools, 10 tennis courts, 2 fully equipped fitness centers, a 27 hole championship golf course and club house, a 9 hole executive golf course, a golf driving range and putting practice green, a 40 stall stable and 3.5 miles of trails, 2 garden centers, a RV storage parking area, 7 club houses and a host of other activities for your enjoyment. Additionally, the Village has it's own free bus system serving the community and outside ancillary services, business and shopping centers. And there are over 200 clubs and organizations for you to participate in and enjoy plus the opportunity to participate in the Saddleback College Emeritus class program.
